Easter

I'm always far behind on posting events as they happen, but I figure I started this blog for memories sake so technically it doesn't really matter.

We had a wonderful Easter weekend celebrating with friends and family.

We went to Camp Rosie Saturday and hid eggs and had dinner with my mom and dad.

Both of the kiddos were really into hiding eggs this year.

Side note.  Apparently turkey hunting season coincides with Easter and Pops informed the boys they needed to show up in their camo Saturday.  Soooooo…they showed up like this.  Rosie was THRILLED.

We spent the night at my inlaws Saturday night and the kids were excited to find the Easter bunny had delivered their baskets Sunday morning.

We made it to my favorite church Sunday morning and I snapped a pic of our Easter Sunday stroll.

I think this is my favorite picture yet…….here's a few past..

We went back to my in laws for dinner Sunday afternoon.

My MIL is such a phenomenal person.  I love her so much and love what a special relationship she has with Carsyn.

The kids spent some time in Carsyn's playhouse and I finally got the answer to a question I had been wondering.  I thought perhaps the kids would use the space as a shared house, but Hank moved his trucks in and sister was having no part of it.

The still love each other 95% of the time though.

Gosh.  It was such a good day.  Really wishing I could freeze time now.

Weekend recap

Hey, hey friends!

Hope y'all had a fabulous weekend!

If I've seemed absent lately it's because we're amidst a bit of chaos.

We've dealt with a bit of a soggy basement all winter so after exploring all options we've decided to waterproof with B Dry.

Basically they jack hammer up the floor in your basement and install drains and a pump.

Fun times.

It looks like this in case you were wondering.
#insertscaryfaceemojihere

I've been trying to paint and honestly I have a love/hate relationship with painting.  I love the end result.  I just hate the hand cramps..

Rosie and my MIL have kept the kids while I've been dealing with this and they're just the greatest.

I know the babes are well taken care of and they send me numerous status updates.

I escaped the mess Friday though and had dinner at Palmers with Rosie and the babes.

In happier news the hubs and I had a great day at Keeneland this Saturday.

The weather was on fleek .... (That's for you Amber) and it was so much fun.

Aside from the fact we won no money. Like seriously. Scratch being a professional gambler of our list of possible careers.

We did our homework, but I honestly thinks it's all about luck.

We had dinner afterward at Portofino.

It was really good, but I honestly thought it might be a tad overrated.  Local friends....what's your favorite restaurant in Lex?

I hit up the Lilly for Target sale via the internet Saturday night.  I got several things before smoke apparently started rolling off my debit card.  Kidding.  But they really did freeze it.  My convo with the lady at the bank went something like this:

Bank Lady:  Jennifer.  Your card is on hold because there were numerous charges at 3:00 in the morning at Target.
Me: Yeah. That was me.
Bank Lady: Oh. Well, there were about 10 transactions in less than 2 minutes.  Let me read them to you....
Me: Yeah.  Totally me.  Have you heard about the Lilly for Target sale?  Well, I heard from a friend the best stuff was going to be online only.  And the site would launch around 3:00 am.  And I had a long list of things...for me, my daughter, my mom....It was a really big deal.  And I just started buying...
Bank Lady: silence.
Me: Oh gosh.  Are you telling me you put a hold on those transactions??? They aren't going through!?  I'M NOT GETTING MY BEACH CHAIRS?!!!
Bank Lady: I need to talk to people upstairs.  I'll call you back.

In all honestly I do not take stuff like that too seriously.  I didn't get my beach chairs.  Darnit.  But my card is all freed up and at least I know I am protected from fraudulent activity.
I have mixed emotions on the Lilly for Target stuff.  I'm really bummed for people that had their heart set on getting things and didn't get to thanks to people filling their buggies.  BUT I have seen a lot of kindness also.  People willing to part with stuff they bought and actually visit their local store to pick up items for friends.  In good news the last release from Lilly is amazing and I'm sure glad I saved some pennies to spend on the real deal.

We had a very low key Sunday as you can tell from this pic.

Poor Hanky fell asleep at 7:30 on the sofa.  Unfortunately he woke up at 1:00 and decided to party like a rock star until 5:00.  And by party like a rock star I mean demand chicken biscuit crackers and chocolate milk every 30 minutes from mom.

Happy Monday friends!!

ONE

I'm an admitted planner addict, y'all know that, right?  One may think that means I'm organized but trust me I'm not.  Well, when Whitney English announced she was releasing a today and to do planner in March I wrote that little tidbit down and ordered promptly.

Isn't she a beaut?  I think there are still some pink available here.

TWO

One of the best things about living in Kentucky is horse racing.  We are headed to Keeneland tomorrow and I can't wait.  I'm thinking I'll wear this Laroque number I got last year.  I think its my all time favorite print.

THREE

Remember that holiday we celebrated recently?  I keep meaning to do an Easter post, but then I forget.  I"ll get on that this weekend.

FOUR

I am by no means current or hip when it comes to music.  My running play list often consists of classic rock and Bruce Springsteen. That being said I've always been a fan of alt rock.  Usually songs that the hubs makes fun of are my favorites.  Right now I'm listening to Peaches by In the Valley Below on repeat.

I have no idea why this band fascinates me so.  Maybe its the funky chemistry they have on stage or the fact that they wear the same outfits all the time.  Listen to it and let me know what you think.

FIVE

Remember when you were younger and your nightly ritual consisted of brushing your teeth and washing your face?  Well now I feel like my nightly ritual takes about 20 minutes.  Anyone else?  I think ever since I started to approach the downhill side to 40 panic started weighing in.

I wash my face then slather on a moisturizer.  Apply my latisse, then my firming creams and hand lotion.  Do you think all this stuff really works?  I mean is it really worth it as women what we go through?

Happy Friday everyone! I'm hopping over to Natasha's blog to catch up with everyone else's five.

ONE

When we went to Nashville  I had a lot of peeps ask about my jeans.  (on the left below).  These are actually 7 jeans from maybe 5 years ago?  They are called the Roxanne skinny and are frankly lower rise than what I'd like but the wash is pretty perfect so they haven't made the toss pile yet.  I can't find these exact ones, but here's a similar pair.

Pictured on the right are my newest jean obsession. The Current/Elliot Soho zip ankle stiletto.  Found here.  I love that they are super stretchy and are coated so they are more opaque than most white jeans.

TWO

I took the kids to see the Easter bunny yesterday and they were so excited! It was actually comical because last year Hank would not get within 50 yards and the year before Carsyn was terrified.

They both refused to sit on his lap though.

I rewarded them with a trip to the Cheesecake Factory afterwards.  People always give me funny looks when I eat out with them alone, but honestly they do really well for a 2 and 4 year old.  Or maybe they give me funny looks for taking selfless and sending to Rosie??

THREE

You may have noticed Hanky's new 'do in the Easter pic.  #insertsadface

It was time to give his curls another trim.

I promptly took him for a cupcake immediately after.

FOUR

I had to mention this.

Sorry if you are not a Kentucky basketball fan.  In summary we were scheduled to play WVU in a sweet sixteen tournament game last night and their players got a little braggy,  I think they basically said be prepared for our record to be 36-1.  That was basically the score at one point of the game as we blew them out of the water.  LOVE. MY. CATS.

FIVE

Every year I pack on the winter pounds.  This year was the worst ever.  I've been running like a mad woman and trying to eat healthier to get ready for summer.  Part of me wants to kick ass and get in the best shape of my life.  The other part of me wants to eat pizza and succumb to wearing swim dresses by the pool all year.  Tune in to see what happens..

Oh and be sure to link up with Darci and others for Five on Friday!

cats cats cats

If you live in the state of Kentucky right now there's probably one thing your wondering.. Will the cats bring home the NCAA championship.

If you don't you probably either A) don't know what I'm talking about or B) wish all of us members of the #BBN (that's big blue nation for those that don't know) would shut up talking about it.

My mom is probably the cats number 2 fan.
My father in law is probably number 1.
I'd say I'm somewhere in between.

So its a no brainer if I'm offered up the chance to go watch the SEC tourney I'm going to say yes.

The hubby and I ventured down to Nashville and watched the Cats bring home the SEC tournament championship.

We caught up with old and new friends.

Dined on some fine cuisine.

Killed time walking the streets and watching the boring games.

And even got dressed up for a few nights out and karaoke.

The kids were in good hands at Camp Rosie and at Granny and Papaw's house and before we left we went to Build A Bear for the babes to get some Willie Cauley Stein bears.

Let's Go Cats!!!

Snow

Are you sick of snow?
And if you answered no to that question would you like to house swap?

Here in KY we've had two over one foot snowfalls in the last few weeks.

We were well prepared for the last one and it looked something like this.

I believe I was on the phone with my sister and saw my hubby come skating down the road around mid afternoon.  In all of our going on 15 years of marriage I have never seen him leave work early due to weather.  Like NEVER.

We stocked up on frozen foods, wine, and milk and hunkered down in out basement for a few days.

We played 1932 games of hide and go seek and had American Girl sleepovers.

Everyone in the family kept asking me to send them pics of what the kids thought of the snow and this is what they got.

Every time I begged Hank to go out and play he would say "I not like cold."  Shane has decided that's a sure sign we need to move south.  And I was beginning to think he might be onto something.

I ventured to camp rosie earlier this week to have my hair done (#priorities) and sort of got snowed in here.  Or maybe I should say got snowed out of Lexington.

We coaxed Hank into going outside by telling him we were going to ride the Ranger.

After that he decided it wasn't so bad and went on a tube ride with his sister.

And just like that, my boy is a snow loving machine.

They played until their little toes were numb and then wobbled inside for some hot refreshments.

I might be a little sick of the white stuff but I never said it had lost its magic.

My cat is purring beside me and it's the only thing holding me together right now. I'm not suicidal, I'm just tired. Tired of be...
